Fire Rated Hazardous/Laboratory Exhaust
VaughanAir’s HXD is a pre-manufactured 2-hour fire resistance rated hazardous/laboratory exhaust system.
The HXD system eliminates the field welding required for contractor fabricated hazardous/laboratory systems. Featuring installer-friendly companion flange connections that include a chemically inert and liquid-tight gasketed sealing system, HXD has been third-party tested at pressures up to +/- 10” w.g. in accordance with ASHRAE/SMACNA Standard 126.
For hazardous/laboratory exhaust systems that require pressure decay testing to ASME N510, “Testing of Nuclear Air Treatment Systems”, HXD has also been third-party tested to N510 at pressures up to +/- 10” w.g.
The HXD system is a zero-clearance system to all combustible and non-combustible materials in accordance with ASTM E119 & CAN/ULC-S101 for a 2-hour fire exposure from inside or outside the assembly, suitable for use in systems where fire dampers are not allowed by code.
The HXD is supplied in a rectangular footprint providing additional flexibility that allows designers to achieve the required air flows when shallow ceiling spaces or shaft requirements limit the size. The HXD is offered in minimum 18-gauge 304 or 316 stainless steel with fully welded seams. The HXD patented flange design allows a flat surface for gasket application, offering a complete, cost-effective exhaust solution. Common components such as end caps, terminations, fume hoods and fan adaptors are included in the complete HXD system scope. The systems can be interchanged with the single wall Model LXD to fit your project needs
Extensive structural, fire and leakage testing has been performed on the HXD system ensuring a safe solution for new construction or retrofitting of hazardous/laboratory exhaust systems.
